THE PERFECT SHOT James Kennerley and Dave Bell were on the hunt for pictures of a rare gull that tends to only make a handful of appearances in the Greater Victoria region each year. They were willing to kneel amongst the piles of seaweed washed up on shore at the Esquimalt Lagoon during a recent storm to capture the best possible shot on Friday (Sept. 29). Unusually large piles of seaweed and the chilly fall weather were not enough to deter some dedicated bird photographers from spending time at the Esquimalt Lagoon Friday (Sept. 29).

James Kennerley and Dave Bell were on the hunt for pictures of a rare gull that tends to only make a handful of appearances in the Greater Victoria region each year. They were willing to kneel amongst the piles of seaweed washed up on shore during a recent storm to capture the best possible shot.
