Hundreds of elementary school students flocked to Royal Bay Secondary School in Colwood Friday (June 2) for the Sooke School District 62B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s elementary school track meet.
With nearly as many cheering the runners on from the sidelines, students sprinted, jogged, and ran their way around the track.
There were plenty of events with multiple teams per school and consolation events held, meaning nearly every athlete went home with a ribbon.
The meet is the second since the pandemic put a pause on school sports. Last year saw an even greater supporter turnout and energy than expected, and this yearB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s event saw similar numbers and just as much energy.
