LETTER: Saanich council ignores publicB次元官网网址檚 will

Saanich council unanimously voting on the dog-leash issue is very puzzling. Perhaps IB次元官网网址檓 mistaken, I thought we lived in a democracy where the voters and residents in the majority have a certain measure of control over the decisions made affecting them. Sannich is showing democracy is only applicable when it aligns with the needs of special interest groups and politicians.

Otherwise, as Colin Plant stated, if the vote was simply based on public opinion the vote would have been a no-brainer. I guess I was na茂ve to think that public opinion does matter. The overwhelming public opinion should outweigh the minority opinion when it comes to these community-use matters. Otherwise, why do we even have the process? Why donB次元官网网址檛 we just have a wheel and spin it every time we want to set public policy? IB次元官网网址檓 sure democracy is alive and well somewhere, just not in Saanich.
