BEEF: When we moved to Vancouver Island last June, little did we expect to be entering a third-world health care system. Being elderly, it is one of the things we did not consider as being remotely possible. Lack of GPs indicates a broken health care system. Virtual physician meetings are only good if you play doctor and do a self-diagnosis as there is absolutely no continuity and you cannot get referrals! The NDP government needs to do a lot better job.
BEEF: To people who sign up for Christmas food hampers and never pick them up. You are taking away the opportunity for someone who may need it to feed their family a holiday dinner. Try to be more mindful, especially around the holidays.
BOUQUET: To the staff at Thrifty Foods Belmont, who maintain a cheerful attitude and quick service even with long lines of shoppers. Whether in the deli, at the checkouts, or anywhere else in the store, thank you for making last-minute holiday food shopping as enjoyable as you do!
BOUQUET: To Fountain Tire for being able to get my car in for winter tires so quickly! They were very professional and courteously answered all of my questions. With the snow warnings and winter weather, IB次元官网网址檓 glad that I was able to easily get my car serviced with such care.
BOUQUET: To fantastic local author Melody Lily Jade for your spectacular debut novel based on your amazing life. Intrabit One World balanced science, religion, and art effortlessly with strong emotions from trauma in life. Proud of you!
BEEF: To the government policy on being double vaxxed to enter a restaurant and other enterprises while there is no law for their workers to be vaxxed or tested. How does that even make any sense?
BEEF: To the public safety minister for using climate change to hide the provincial governmentB次元官网网址檚 failure at protecting critical infrastructure.
BOUQUET: To all who make a stand and ask for vaccine passports to make it safe for us all. We need to do what is best for everyone. You donB次元官网网址檛 deserve the privilege of joining in if you donB次元官网网址檛 want to be part of the solution.
BOUQUET: This year, as in years past, I have done all my shopping locally. IB次元官网网址檝e picked up items from toy stores, childrenB次元官网网址檚 clothing, menB次元官网网址檚 clothing stores, curio shops, local farms, local theatres, local artisans, garden shopsB次元官网网址� all my money went to local businesses. Thank you to all our local businesses for hanging in through this awful pandemic that has kept most of us held ransom at home. You are our lifeline to getting out and actually seeing people and the merchandise we buy. Shop local!
BOUQUET: To everyone who thought of the poor hummingbirds. DonB次元官网网址檛 forget to defrost and change their water with this weather. Thank you to everyone who thought of the little ones.
BOUQUET: A rave to Red Barn Market on Latoria. I donB次元官网网址檛 eat a lot of steak but had a craving and picked up a top sirloin. Wow, very juicy and tender. Price and service was also splendid. Shopping local paid off, and IB次元官网网址檒l be back for my next beefy craving. Way to go Red Barn Market!
BOUQUET: A shout-out to the road crews on the Malahat for keeping up with the snow over the last couple of days, and to the drivers that are staying off the Malahat if their vehicles are not equipped to drive it.
BOUQUET: To the families sledding at Wishart School, all deserve a big bouquet of snowballs. It was so fun to see everyone out on their sleds enjoying the snow. Beats sitting in the house playing video games and it looked like everyone had a chance to forget about the pandemic and everything going on and get out and enjoy the day. My family had a great time and enjoyed all the positivity and fun the kids were having.
BEEF: To the driver who decided to drive too fast in the snow down Happy Valley Road in the silver truck all jacked up (Dec 26). The speed limit on a regular day heading to Metchosin is 50km/h. I was driving a little slower due to road conditions. You road my tail the whole way and then decided to pass me on the S-curves. If you knew how many accidents occurred on those S-curves maybe you would have had second thoughts. Grow up, take a breather, and drive with more care.
BEEF: A rant to the delivery driver that decided to deliver my package three doors down and not even at a door. They tossed it onto the side of the road. Soaked and torn, we did manage to retrieve it before Christmas with the help of social media. What is it with the delivery drivers right now?
BOUQUET: For all the locally owned and operated shops in the West Shore. Thank you for your service and dedication to your businesses during another tough year. I hope all of you received the support you needed to keep going for many more years to come. We need you in our community to keep the economy going and I hope the community realizes how important it is to support local now more than ever. You give back more directly to our local economy than most people know. Thank you for all your hard work and all the best in 2022!
BOUQUET: Nicely done Kyle Hobbs for your post on the Colwood Community Association social media page. You made us laugh while you strummed your guitar and sang us all a song for Christmas. You gave our family a belly chuckle, and we all got dressed in our snow gear and headed outside after your delightful message. LolB次元官网网址ou rocked it!
BOUQUET: Thank you Tony and Adrianna for being the best convenience store owners in the West Shore. Metchosin Country Store always comes through on the holidays when my family forgets a staple for the Christmas dinner. Your family really deserves a high five for the service you give back to the community. Happy holidays and all the best to you and your family in the new year.
