Oak Bay police are looking to talk to a suspect after a man reported being punched on an Oak Bay beach.
The man told police he spoke to another shoreline walker between Gyro Park and the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, about their dog being off-leash on Jan. 7 around 4:30 p.m.
As the man walked away, the person with the pet tackled and punched the individual several times leaving him with minor injuries, Oak Bay Police Department said in its weekly briefs.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his early 40s, 5B次元官网网址11B次元官网网址 with slim build and brown hair, accompanied by a large white dog. The man fled on foot toward the Gyro Park parking lot.
The assault report was among 57 calls to Oak Bay police for service the week of Jan. 6 to 12.
Officers are also looking for the owner of an Apple watch found on the shoreline New YearB次元官网网址檚 Day after the annual polar bear swim. It was turned into police on Jan. 11. Anyone who feels it may be theirs can contact the department at 250-592-2424.
The Oak Bay police plan to increase its community presence onshore and in local waters throughout 2025. The public is invited to join officers at Spewhung (Turkey Head) on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. to discuss issues including derelict vessels, water safety and theft prevention. The event is dependent on fair weather and police operational demands.
