Langford agrees to shuttle lawn bowlers

Visitors to the Juan de Fuca Lawn Bowling Club will enjoy trolley transportation when the club hosts the 2017 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships, Aug. 13 to 19 at West Shore Parks and Recreation.

In preparation for the big event, the club asked the City of Langford to donate use of the Langford trolley to shuttle competitors to and from the Four Points by Sheraton Gateway hotel. The City did so for the 2009 championship and again in 2012 for the North American event. The cost for a driver and fuel was estimated at $2,200, of which council voted Monday to pay half and donate use of the trolley.

Area sewer network expands along West Shore Parkway

The City of Langford has received a New Building Canada infrastructure grant for the West Shore Parkway project and aims to use some of those funds to construct a sewer pump station as part of a larger wastewater project. City staff determined the optimal location for the Luxton Pump Station is on Salem Road, approximately halfway between Sooke and Luxton roads.

Council also awarded the contract to Westbrook Consulting for a topographical survey and detailed engineering design for the Salem Road sewer extension B次元官网网址 required for the Parkway project. The City is applying for another grant to extend sewer lines along Salem Road to Luxton Road, and south to an existing pump station on Happy Valley Road.
