Katherine Engqvist

I took on the role of Bureau Chief when we created the Greater Victoria editorial hub in 2018. Before that, I worked for a number of national and local publications, including Chatelaine magazine. I joined the Goldstream Gazette team in 2015. My journalism career began at Black Press Media, where I worked as an intern at the Peninsula B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ· Review when I was 14. I graduated with honors from Ryerson University's School of Journalism. I've been fortunate to receive numerous awards, including a Jack Webster Award for excellence in science, technology, and environmental reporting. I was also honored to be named in Editor and Publisher magazine's 25 under 35 rising stars in the news industry list. Outside of the newsroom, I enjoy working on my family's farm on the Saanich Peninsula, fishing in the waters off the West Shore, and traveling the globe.katie.e@blackpress.ca
