UPDATE: Health Canada investigating claims Banana Boat sunscreen burned babies

Two parents allege the product caused chemical burns

Health Canada is looking into allegations that a brand of sunscreen burned two children.

The agency says it has received nine complaints not including one filed late last week, regarding Banana Boat products. Four were for baby products, three were for childrenB次元官网网址檚 products and two were for adult products.

Two childrenB次元官网网址檚 products and one baby product allegedly caused burns. The baby product reaction was in 1996.

Two mothers, one from Ontario and one from Quebec, have claimed on social media that their babies suffered second-degree burns after Banana Boat products were applied.

B次元官网网址淗ealth Canada is aware of the case of a 14-month-old who suffered a reaction suspected to be caused by the product, Banana Boat Kids Free Continuous Spray Sunscreen SPF 50+,B次元官网网址 Health Canada said in a statement.

In a statement released Tuesday night, Banana Boat stated that upon receiving a customer complaint about their Kids Free Spray SPF 50+, they B次元官网网址渞etested the batch and have confirmed that the product is safe for use.B次元官网网址
