Dozens set to take the plunge at Willows Beach on New Year's Day

The polar bear swim will take place at noon

Dozens of cold-water lovers will gather at Willows Beach on Jan. 1 to start the New Year off with a frosty ocean plunge.

"Wipe the sleep out of your eyes, throw on a swimsuit, top it off with your party hat and greet 2025 with a quick dip at Willows Beach," said The Lido Club, a Greater Victoria cold-water swimming community that organized the meet-up.

Rain or shine, the swim will take place at noon, which, last year, saw 100 people sprint into Oak Bay's freezing waters.

The polar bear organizers will hand out hot beverages B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ attendees have been asked to bring their own mugs B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ to help dippers stay warm until the event ends at 12:30 p.m.
