LETTER: Saanich council embraces development at expense of neighbourhood

LETTER: Saanich council embraces development at expense of neighbourhood

Royal Oak residents have been closely following the Doral Forest Park development application process, and one has to legitimately wonder why this project was approved, whereas a less dense proposal on Raymond Street South was rejected, which by all accounts is better suited to large-scale development. Both decisions went against the recommendation of Saanich Planning.

LETTER: Lambrick Park lot hidden from view

In the midst of the heatwave, my dog and I were walking around Lambrick Park (really too warm to be doing so). No pockets, so I was carrying the usual things B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ dog leash, doggie bags, Kleenex, my mask, keys - and on my return to my car I was shattered to find that from all the above I had (of course) lost my keys.

LETTER: Saanich council disregards neighbourhood concerns over high-rise

On June 17, Saanich council approved the Doral Forest Park 11-storey, 242-unit condominium project located on Elk Lake Drive on the boundary of Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park. The application is so out of touch with the community values and out of place in its location that it makes one wonder how it could possibly be approved.

LETTER: Air conditioning contributing to climate change

So here we are in the Big Heat B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·” when many of us lament the loss of our temperate climate. ItB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s a bit sickening. And it can only get worse because not enough is being done to stop the climate change gradually oppressing the Earth.

LETTER: Environmental preservation is not governmentB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s priority

I write to take issue with Murray RankinB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s recent column Working to protect ancient forests. His column repeats misleading NDP tropes and misinformation.

LETTER: Development comes at the cost of habitat

Saanich councilB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s recent 7-2 decision to allow an 11-storey, 242-unit condo project at the edge of Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park at the projected cost of 55 mature trees, clearly tasks the credulity of SaanichB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s electorate with some pretty outstanding double-think.
LETTER: Reconciliation requires listening

LETTER: Reconciliation requires listening

John Harris of Esquimalt wonders if we, as a nation, are up to the hard slog to build a true history, and make for real reconciliation. I must agree with him.
LETTER: Better maintenance needed at Elk Lake

LETTER: Better maintenance needed at Elk Lake

IB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™m writing to bring awareness about the poor condition of our local gem that is Elk Lake Regional Park.
LETTER: Development putting a strain on infrastructure

LETTER: Development putting a strain on infrastructure

Don Enright raises some excellent points in his letter in the June 3 Peninsula B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ· Review regarding the hard-line push to drive development in Deep Cove.
