The Cowichan Performing Arts Centre comes alive as they kick off 2025 with an array of eclectic events from dance to drama.

On Jan. 10 at 7 p.m., settle into one of our coldest months of the year with Warmland Dance's 'Unfolding'.
Inspired by Rudolf SteinerB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s philosophy and under the leadership of artistic director Leah Burley the Adult Professional Company presents an exploration of human development from birth.
Known for her versatility and depth in contemporary choreography, Burley has a unique ability to weave together different forms of movement in a way that feels both seamless and deeply expressive, said a press release for the show. Supporting her is assistant choreographer Anna Dickey who is also an acclaimed international performer.
Regular tickets are $35, or $25 for seniors, students, and children.

Step into the new year is style and with a smile as Steps Ahead dance presents Mid-Season Stories on Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. This will be a curated collection of dance across multiple ages and genres. Tickets are $18, or $12 for children.

Music lovers will want to start off 2025 living life in the fast lane as Eagle Eyes pay tribute to the legendary rock band The Eagles who dominated soft rock through the '70s with hits like 'Witchy Woman', 'LyinB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ Eyes', 'New Kid In Town', and 'Hotel California'. Fans of the original super group will want to check themselves into the Cowichan Performing Arts on Jan. 16, at 7:30 p.m.
Eagle Eyes are Jack Gunderson on bass and lead vocals, Jason Dunajski and Ray Harvey on guitars and lead vocals, and keeping the beat is Kenneth Ermter on drums and lead vocals. All four members are lifetime professional musicians with several decades of combined experience on the road and in the studio. Tickets are $55.

On Jan 17, at 7:30 p.m., leave your shovel at home and head to the CPAC for the 'Snowed In Comedy Tour' as it celebrates its 16th year of delivering piles of laughs from coast to coast.
The crew consists of 'Just for Laughs' winner Dan Quinn, 'Great Canadian Laugh Off' winner Paul Myrehaug and six-time Canadian Comedian of the year nominee Pete Zedlacher who will also be joined by the comedic stylings of Erica Sigurdson who has had over 70 appearances on 'The Debaters'. Tickets are $58.50.

On Jan. 19 at 2 p.m., don't ghost the opportunity to see the Cowichan Symphony Society present Victoria Baroque with 'Phantasm' featuring David Greenberg. This afternoon performance inside the Killy Theatre at Mill Bay's Brentwood College will bring classical music lovers the sounds of Purcel and Vivaldi as well as Celtic Folk Songs. On Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. Reel Alternatives offers Fawzia Mirza's The Queen Of My Dreams.
The story follows Azra who is worlds apart from her conservative Muslim mother. Following a tragedy, Azra finds herself on a Bollywood-inspired journey to Pakistan as she is guided by memories of her motherB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s youth in Karachi and her own coming-of-age in rural Canada. Starring Amrit Kaur and Nimra Bucha.
Reel Alternatives is a monthly fundraiser that brings the Toronto Film FestivalB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s critically acclaimed films to the Cowichan Valley with all proceeds going directly to Cowichan Hospice. Tickets are $17 and concession will be available.

On Jan. 23 at 7 p.m., film buffs who enjoy a different type of cinema and outdoor activities will want to make the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival the high point of their week. This year's festival will include award-winning short films about climbing, biking, snowsports, environmental stewardship, and more. It will be divided into three parts with an intermission between each one. Tickets are $20 or just $10 for students.

On Jan. 25 attend an event that is sure to strike a chord with the 25th annual International Guitar Night. This plucky evening of music and storytelling will feature Lulo Reinhardt from Germany, Alexandra Whittingham from Britain, Sönke Meinen from Germany and Niwel Tsumbu from the Democratic Republic of The Congo.
Reinhardt is the grand-nephew of legendary Django Reinhardt who will bring to the CPAC stage a combination of Gypsy Swing with Latin rhythms.
Whittingham trained classically for 12 years before releasing her debut album My European Journey in 2021 which focuses on 19th-century European repertoire.
Meinen keeps things simple with a single guitar and a bar stool and acoustic guitar music.
TsumbuB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·‹ is a guitarist and singer who grew up with the hip-swinging Soukous music from the Democratic Republic Of The Congo.

Oh my God, Oh my God you guys the highly anticipated production of Cowichan Musical Society's Legally Blonde The Musical, which runs until Feb. 9, celebrates its opening night on Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
