A day at Goldstream is always a walk in the park, but on Jan. 26, it will double as a story walk.

Goldstream Park is one of 14 locations participating in the 2014 Westshore Family Learning tour.

Pages of the story Owl Babies will be posted on stakes along the path so families can stroll through the park and read the story along the way.

Three-year-old Finnley Davie loves the tale and is excited for the upcoming walk with his mother Shantael Sleight, literacy outreach co-ordinator with Your Literacy Connection Westshore.

The self-guided story walk  runs from noon to 4 p.m.

B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 an opportunity for families from children to seniors to come out and learn,B次元官网网址� said Sleight.

This is the second year the tour has been offered  and the locations have doubled from last yearB次元官网网址檚 seven. Sleight is hoping to beat last yearB次元官网网址檚 300 participants as well.

B次元官网网址淟iteracy is more than just reading and writing. ItB次元官网网址檚 a strategy and it can affect how successful you are at your job and your quality of life,B次元官网网址� Sleight said. B次元官网网址淟iteracy is how you gain new knowledge and learn new skills and build on what you already know.B次元官网网址�

People are encouraged to travel through the 14 locations spanning the West Shore to get a bigger idea about what literacy is. Some of the events include Highlands school house, FloydB次元官网网址檚 Diner, Goudy library and Metchosin Community House.
