The Toastmasters Club at Royal Roads University has launched a new innovation aimed at enabling members to attend meetings from anywhere thereB次元官网网址檚 an Internet connection.
Brian Dodd, who founded the RRU Toastmasters Club four years ago, said the new approach was made possible because of the Colwood universityB次元官网网址檚 superior communications abilities.
The idea came to fruition because Dodd wanted to help students who joined the club while completing their studies at RRU, but were unable to remain with the club once they returned home.
B次元官网网址淲e had students from Ecuador who joined and couldnB次元官网网址檛 continue when they got back home,B次元官网网址 explained Dodd, who moved to the West Shore a year ago. B次元官网网址淭hey didnB次元官网网址檛 get to speak much English once they were back in Ecuador, but now they can continue to sharpen their language skills online.B次元官网网址
Dodd, an entrepreneur with 46 years of experience in computer and accounting programs, describes himself as a software architect always on the lookout for novel ideas.
The RRU Toastmasters Club is also adding meetings on Mondays at noon, to accommodate people who canB次元官网网址檛 attend the regular Thursday evening sessions.
B次元官网网址淏oth meetings are now in person and online,B次元官网网址 Dodd said.
