The View Royal Garden ClubB次元官网网址檚 annual fall garden show, scheduled for Saturday (Sept. 13) at Shoreline Community School, has been cancelled due to the teacherB次元官网网址檚 strike.

Club president Susan Kelly said a number of other sites were investigated but none were suitable for various reasons. With CUPE support staff in schools supporting the teachers in their current dispute with the province, the garden club was unable to use the school facility.

No makeup date has been scheduled at this point, Kelly said.

In late summer and fall, much of the available local produce comes in some shade of orange or green.

From pumpkins and zucchini to tomatoes and gourds of all shapes and sizes, natureB次元官网网址檚 bounty is plentiful this time of year. That growth is not limited to edible produce, as members of the View Royal Garden Club can attest.

The club is hosting its annual fall exhibit, sale and judged competition of flowers, vegetables and fruits this Saturday (Sept. 13) at Shoreline Community School, 2750 Shoreline Dr.

B次元官网网址淭his is one of our biggest shows of the year,B次元官网网址� said Colwood resident and club member Maureen Thompson, who plans to enter her giant fringed dahlias in the cut flowers section of the competition.

B次元官网网址淭he public is also welcome to exhibit their roses and other late summer plants,B次元官网网址� she said.

Besides taking part in the judged portion of the show, many club members will also have baked goods and a variety of planted perennial cuttings in pots for sale.

The show runs from 1 to 3 p.m. at the school. Admission is $5 and includes refreshments and eligibility for door prizes.
