A mother-daughter team that helps homeless people and financially challenged families feed their dogs and cats is looking for a connection on the West Shore.

Sooke resident Margarita Dominguez and her daughter, Kai Yates, who are the heart of the Sooke Animal Food and Rescue Society, began providing a free pet food bank service at Our Place in Victoria in 2013.

Having developed similar charitable setups at the Beecher Bay First Nation in East Sooke and a home delivery service in Sooke, they hope to find a distribution centre in Langford or Colwood.

The two women accept donations of pet food from the community, but frequently pay for it out of their own pocket, Yates said.

The Westshore Food Bank, which operates out of the Langford Legion, has many clients with animals, a staff member said, but doesnB次元官网网址檛 always have pet food in stock. Clients are asked to call 250-474-4443 to check supplies.
