The Goldstream Masonic Lodge will be moving from its current location at 679 Goldstream Ave.

The laying of the foundation stone for a new facility, will mark the start of a new chapter for Langford's Freemasons.

Leaving behind their current home, the Goldstream Masonic Lodge, which neighbours Veterans Memorial Park, the association will move to the new Westshore Masonic Centre, which will be located on Bryn Maur Road.

The new building will serve as a hub for Masonic activities on the West Shore, including lodge meetings, educational programs and charitable endeavours.

"We are delighted to celebrate this historic moment as we lay the foundation stone for our new Masonic centre in Langford," said Gary McInnis, worshipful master of Goldstream Lodge No. 161, in a news release. "This ceremony represents the culmination of many years of planning and dedication, and we are grateful for the support of our members, partners, and the community at large."

The foundation stone laying ceremony will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, with the grand master of B.C. and Yukon, local dignitaries and community leaders in attendance.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. with a short presentation on the history of the old Goldstream Masonic Lodge building, before Freemasons, family and friends parade to the site of the new lodge in time for the stone laying ceremony at 3 p.m.

The Goldstream Masonic Lodge was purchased by the City of Langford in 2022, who plan to use the land to expand Veterans Memorial Park.
