Metchosin five-piece band Fine Spirits perform an unplugged show Sunday afternoon.

Metchosin Community Association hosts Fine Spirits made up of Dave Preston, T.W. Tobin, Lesley Preston, Ken Champoux and Kevin Kotorynski.

Now in its fifth year, the Metchosin music program organized by Naseem Janmohamed with input from Ric Perron, offers an eclectic series of about five concerts a year, from classical to folk, from blues and jazz to flamenco.

The 2014 series kicks off with some Fine Spirits at Metchosin Community House, 4430 Happy Valley Rd.

B次元官网网址淲e usually play dances and stuff, fairs and festivals,B次元官网网址 said Preston, whoB次元官网网址檚 accustomed to a plugged-in environment. B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 a challenge to us but itB次元官网网址檚 going to be a lot of fun I think. There might be room for dancing, but itB次元官网网址檚 a fairly intimate venue.B次元官网网址

Fine Spirits formed in the summer of 2008. Originally it was a trio, with Dave on guitar and vocals, his wife Lesley on bass and vocals, and Tobin on drums. With a few additions and subtractions over the years, Fine Spirits is established as a popular attraction at events such as Saanich Fair, Luxton Fair, markets, and Metchosin Day.

The group will bring standard and classic rock along with some folk and singalong music

B次元官网网址淲eB次元官网网址檝e got some stuff from the 60s 70s 80s and 90s,B次元官网网址 Preston said. B次元官网网址淲eB次元官网网址檙e pulling some songs that weB次元官网网址檝e never done before.B次元官网网址

In another twist, drummer Tobin will play percussion without his kit, using tambourines, shakers and even an instrument from Africa.

B次元官网网址淗eB次元官网网址檚 got two or three things IB次元官网网址檝e never seen before. And heB次元官网网址檚 very good,B次元官网网址 Preston said.
