A fundraising foursome are playing the Valley and Mountain courses at Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort from dawn to dusk today.

Jordan Ray, Jaegan Patron, Chris Currie and Dave Maddock are in the midst of playing consecutive rounds as part of the 2014 PGA of B.C. Golfathon for ALS.

The provincial goal is to raise $1 million for support services benefiting patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, otherwise known as Lou GehrigB次元官网网址檚 Disease, and research toward finding a cure.

The Bear Mountain team, some of whom have played the event before, has a special reason for taking part: CurrieB次元官网网址檚 father is battling the disease, having been diagnosed in February 2013.

Currie and Ray were part of last yearB次元官网网址檚 foursome that golfed 100 holes through the day.

Golf pros around the province are taking part in the ninth annual event, which saw the first marathon played May 20 and winds up July 26.
