High schools get busy in a variety of sports this week.
Senior badminton hits the court Tuesday, April 18 when Belmont visits Pacific Christian School and Royal Bay hosts Victor Brodeur. Both matches open at 3:45 p.m.
The fourth event on the high school cycling circuit brings road racing to Western Speedway next Tuesday. The race begins at 4:45 p.m., but cyclists should arrive at 3 p.m.
Senior girlsB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ soccer is on the card next week when Royal Bay Ravens take on Vic High on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. Head to Royal Athletic Park to cheer on your West Shore girls. Senior boysB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ rugby has Royal Bay taking on Oak Bay B at Oak Bay at 3:45 p.m. while Belmont hosts St. Michaels University School at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Turning to the Premier rugby pitch, the Westshore women welcome Seattle to the Juan de Fuca field this Saturday (April 15), in a game postponed from February. Kickoff is at 11:30 a.m., following a Div. 2 womenB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s match.
For West Shore athletes interested in the Team BC box lacrosse program, evaluation sessions are scheduled for Saturday, April 22 at the Fuller Lake arena in Chemainus. Sessions are for athletes wanting to try out for provincial teams that will compete at national championships this summer. Pee wees open the day at 9 a.m., followed by the bantams noon and the midgets at 3 p.m. For more information visit .
Baseball has returned to West Shore diamonds thanks to the crew at Triangle Baseball. Enjoy a ballpark hot dog and cheer on the up-and-coming players at local diamonds. The regionB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s high-performance teams, the Victoria Eagles and Mariners, also play host to a number of West Shore players.
While the Junior Premier Eagles start their season on the road, the JP Mariners are at home this Saturday when they take on the UBC Thunder in a doubleheader at 1 and 3:30 p.m. at Henderson Field in Saanich.
The Premier Victoria Eagles open a four-game weekend by hosting the Parksville Royals for a doubleheader on Saturday at Lambrick Park, with first pitches going at 12:05 and 2:35 p.m. Then on Sunday the Eagles hit the road to North Delta to face the Blues.
Greater Victoria Minor Ball Hockey opened league play on the West Shore this past week, but for those with an eye to Team BC, tryouts are scheduled for Sunday, April 30 for players born in 1998 to 2003. For more information and to register visit .
