The price was right for the Kelowna Rockets.

With just under three days until the WHL's trade deadline, the team announced on Monday night (Jan. 6) that they have traded defenceman Caden Price to the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The Seattle Kraken prospect is coming off playing for Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships, in which collected a goal and an assist in five games.

In 201 career games for the Rockets, Price scored 26 goals and added 122 assists for 148 points. His assists and points totals put him fifth all-time in Rockets history for assists by a defenceman and seventh all-time for points by a defenceman.

He also had 13 points in 19 playoff games and was twice named the teamB次元官网网址檚 top defenceman in both 2022-23 and 2023-24.

Lethbridge Hurricanes are excited to add Price to their team as they try to make a deep playoff run this season.

Meanwhile, the Rockets are getting a haul coming back their way. In exchange for Price, Kelowna acquired:

• 2007-born defenceman William Sharpe;
• The rights to 2007-born goaltender Harrison Boettiger;
• A first round selection in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft;
• A conditional fourth round selection in the 2025 Draft;
• A fourth round pick in 2026;
• A fifth round pick in 2027;
• A sixth round pick in 2025.

Sharpe, who eligible for the 2025 NHL Draft was LethbridgeB次元官网网址檚 first round selection in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft. In 35 games this season, he has recorded three goals and 27 points. Over the course of his WHL career, the defenceman has played in 95 games where he has scored seven times and added 38 points.

At 17 years old, Boettiger has been playing for the United States National Development Program with both their U18 and U17 programs as well as the Juniors squad which plays against USHL competition. He also suited up in the CHL-USA Prospects Challenge where he finished with a .921 save percentage.

The WHL trade deadline is at 5 p.m. PST, on Thursday, Jan. 9. The Rockets aren't back in action until Friday, Jan. 10 as they welcome the Prince George Cougars to town. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. at Prospera Place.
