In December, the West Shore Parks and Recreation Society selected New Line Skateparks Inc., a design and construction firm that specializes in skateparks and skateable environments, to design the skatepark.

The designs are a result of roughly two years of consultation with the Westshore Skatepark Coalition, an organization dedicated to the creation of new skateparks in the West Shore, which was provided to New Line late last year.

The public workshop takes place on Tuesday, March 6 at the Juan de Fuca library from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The workshop will include a presentation of design options presented by New Line and will be followed by a feedback session.

Final designs for the skatepark are anticipated to be complete by the end of April, at which point a funding strategy will be developed and will be presented to the parks and recreation board for approval.
