If you happen to still be sleeping at 8:45 a.m. this Sunday in Esquimalt, donB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t be alarmed if you hear a big gun going off at that time.
Instead of the traditional starting pistol, a C3 Howitzer gun will be fired once to start CFB EsquimaltB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s annual Navy Run, which this year falls on FatherB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Day (June 18).
The annual family oriented event, overseen by the Department of National Defence and Royal Canadian Navy includes 10-kilometre and 5K distances, as well as a kidB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s run starting at 8 a.m. The longer routes take runners through the Township of EsquimaltB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s residential streets, starting and ending just inside the security gates on Admirals Road leading to Naden.
