North Saanich wants to build a library beside the Panorama Leisure Centre. As we are now in the 21st century, maybe we would should rethink our old ways.

As permanent residents of Esquimalt Lagoon area of Colwood, we wish to publicly express our complete dissatisfaction with councilB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s decision to keep Ocean Boulevard/Lagoon Road closed to through traffic. Hopefully this decision will be reviewed again in early September and the Lagoon Road will be opened.

The homeless population in Victoria, and most of B.C. is getting out of hand. The quick fix of buying hotels, etc. to house these people is a typical knee-jerk reaction from the NDP government done without a study of the problem.

While B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·˜Plate hateB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ reflects poorly on all of us living on Vancouver Island, I am concerned that Dr. Bonnie HenryB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s policy of not telling us where new COVID-19 cases are on the Island and how the transmission has occurred is actually feeding an unhealthy level of suspicion and fear among us.

As B.C.B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s minister of tourism, arts and culture, IB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™d like to respond to a recent column about the provincial governmentB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s approach to supporting the tourism sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We just wonB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t go away, damn it. One of our family or friends died and we keep making a noise about it. ThereB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s groups of us banging pots and chanting outside the Blanshard Street Ministry of Health offices. We keep organizing information events at Centennial Square and holding symposia at church halls and writing endless letters-to-editors. And why? Because a friend or child or parent died from fentanyl poisoning and we donB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t want that to happen to you.

We are 40-year permanent residents of the Esquimalt Lagoon area of Colwood. We wish to express our complete satisfaction with Colwood councilB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s decision to keep Lagoon Road closed to through traffic.
