New ferries not more efficient

Re: Ferries rides waves of fair increases, Progress 2011 - Report on business, May 4, 2011.

The article states BԪַupgrading to more efficient ships has helped save fuel costs.BԪַ  I hope this is not a quote from BC Ferries CEO David Hahn, because it is not true.

According to BC FerriesBԪַ own figures, the new German-built ships consume about 50 per cent more fuel per passenger per crossing than the old queens they replaced. Hahn, questioned on talk radio, confirmed this.

Therefore  the cause of the fare increases is obvious. A bad choice of ferry builder, and a lack of due diligence by BC Ferries.
