The Peninsula Community Pickleball Club (PCPC) is the B次元官网网址渙therB次元官网网址 pickleball organization on the Peninsula. We are a registered not-for-profit society and an affiliate club under the Pickleball BC and Pickleball Canada umbrellas. We have 197 members with another 50 on our waitlist. Our players range in age from 29 to 87 years old. Over a quarter of our members reside in North Saanich.
Our mandate is to organize play. We play on courts all over the Peninsula and occasionally have played on the courts at Wain Road Park. We promote a unique style of all-inclusive organized play which is best supported when played on reservable courts. Our club is seriously impacted by the limited court inventory on the Peninsula and we are eager to find a solution.
We are aware of the recent events relating to the Wain Road courts closure and are following the conversation closely. We are saddened by the closure and the impact upon the pickleball community. It is our strongest hope that a resolution can be reached that will not only preserve and grow the number of pickleball courts on the Peninsula, but also preserve and grow a positive relationship with the districts and municipalities that house them.
We as a club have offered financial and technical support to help find a solution that meets the needs of all parties, including supporting new court development at an alternate site. We have reached out to the local governments, residents and others interested in working together to find a path forward and anticipate that by working together respectfully we will find an amazing outcome. Our voice is not loud, but it has been heard.
The PCPC board of directors urges all pickleball players to remember that good sportsmanship and mutual respect are equally important on and off the court. With those principles in mind, success is sure to follow. LetB次元官网网址檚 all work together to solve this!
