On-leash dogs and their companions enjoy the sunshine at Cadboro Bay Beach.

I just read your article on the contentious issue of off-leash dogs in Victoria.

I love dogs but currently donBԪַt have one. I am not afraid of dogs at large, but I know many people who are.  The issue, from my perspective, is not any of the things listed in the article, but rather one simple one. Rule following.

In a world of entitled people (kicked off with COVID shutdowns and exacerbated by Donald Trump and followers), it is every person for themselves, rules be damned. If it is not an off-leash zone then dogs should be on a leash. It is that simple. Why are we debating that at all?

Why does everyone think they are BԪַdifferentBԪַ and above the law/rule/courtesy? Rules are in place for a lot of reasons, and if we continue down this path of lawlessness and entitlement, Canada will not be able to support the unity that is needed to navigate what is going on in the world today.
