LETTER: Feeling left out at the Saanich Fair

Never have I experienced children not being allowed to enter an event at the fair

The annual Saanich Fair, held at the Saanich Fairgrounds over Labour Day weekend, attracted thousands of people of all ages and all walks of life.

As a loyal resident of Victoria, I have attended the Saanich Fair since 1992 when we moved here. I thought this was a family event! Never have I experienced children not being allowed to enter an event at the fair, and also being turned away by a security guy in uniform.

I asked the Central Saanich Police to let me sit on one of their chairs and they refused. I had to pull a bench into the shade to sit. As always the sun comes out for the fair, and there needs to be a shaded area for seniors who canB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t be expected to lie on the grass or walk and stand all the time.

That was the beauty of the dining room in the Pavillion to find a seat, and sit awhile enjoying the entertainment.

Where are the values of the fair's organizers? Agricultural show, fairground, beer tent.
