Last night I was reminded why I stopped attending Central Saanich council meetings. The Jan. 27 meeting was well attended and the gallery was full. The open disdain and unmistakable threatening tone aimed at members of the public by councillor(s) did not go unnoticed. I felt uncomfortable long after the comments were made.
Being passionate about a particular topic and speaking publicly can be intimidating. It takes bravery and commitment to cause. Council needs to be reminded that what may be BԪַday to dayBԪַ for them is not as mundane to those in the gallery. Respect goes both ways and everyone on council is only a few votes away from mediocrity.
