Langford firefighters stand next to an overturned vehicle on the edge of Leigh Road next to the B.C. Ambulance Service station late Sunday afternoon.

A man whose car overturned while he was driving south on Leigh Road in Langford after the heavy rain Sunday has been ticketed for driving too fast for the conditions.

The man, who was helped out of the upside-down, older model Volkswagen by police before paramedics arrived B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ his car ironically came to rest on the side of the road, mere metres from the B.C. Ambulance station on Leigh Road B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ was taken to hospital having suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to West Shore RCMP Const. Alex Berube.

West Shore RCMP and Langford firefighters responded to the call late Sunday afternoon. Indications were that the driver lost control while coming down from the Leigh Road interchange.

Given that Sunday's sudden heavy downpour caught many motorists by surprise, Berube urged drivers to adjust their driving behaviour to weather conditions.
