Wet snow and rain may be coming to parts of the Island and the Malahat tonight, according to Environment Canada.
The national weather service has issued for parts of Vancouver Island as well as the Malahat from Goldstream to Mill Bay.
The alert warns of wet snow tonight and on Boxing Day due to a Pacific frontal system that is bringing cool air and precipitation to the Island.
There is likely to be a mix of snow and rain with accumulations of snow in higher terrain.
Snowfall amounts of five centimetres or more are possible and according to Environment Canada, may impact roadways throughout the Island.
Most of the precipitation is to ease by noon on Boxing Day.
Environment Canada is also warning drivers to take caution while driving on the Malahat.
