The City of Langford is asking locals to have their say on construction disruption, wildfire prevention and the safety of pedestrians on Latoria Road.

As part of three council projects, residents can take part in an online survey, which the city says will help guide the communityB次元官网网址檚 growth and development.

The three projects, which are part of the city's 'LetB次元官网网址檚 Plan Langford. Together' initiative, are:

  • Active Transportation Project B次元官网网址 Latoria Road, phase one;
  • Construction Impact Management Strategy;
  • Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan.

B次元官网网址淪uccessful plans result from actively listening to the people most affected by it," said Scott Goodmanson, Mayor of Langford, in a news release. "Through public participation and community feedback weB次元官网网址檙e striving for a city that places the needs and insights of its residents at the forefront. This collective effort will result in a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient city, where everyone can thrive.B次元官网网址

Active Transportation Project B次元官网网址 Latoria Road, phase one

With the new elementary school on Latoria Road set to open in September 2025, the city says it needs to expedite its Latoria Active Transportation Infrastructure Project. Phase one of the project will create safe pedestrian sidewalks from Triangle Trail to Whimfield Terrace in 2025, pending a successful B.C. Active Transportation Grant.

"The project has three phases and aims to build safe pedestrian and bike routes in South Langford, for all ages and abilities," said the city.

Alongside the online survey, which closes on Oct. 22, residents are also invited to attend the council meeting on Oct. 21 to provide their input during public participation.

Construction Impact Management Strategy

As part of the B次元官网网址楪ood NeighbourB次元官网网址 policy to address residentsB次元官网网址 concerns living near construction areas, the city is creating a Construction Impact Management Strategy. The strategy aims to minimize disruptions, keep residents informed and address issues during development to ensure that growth and business operations are reasonably livable for neighbouring residents.

The survey, which closes on Nov. 3, hopes to understand the impact of construction on the neighbourhood.

Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan (CWRP)

The CWRP will guide the cityB次元官网网址檚 FireSmart program and aims to increase community awareness of wildfire risk, foster collaboration and respond to community needs while developing achievable and measurable outcomes.

The city wants to hear from residents about the impacts caused by wildfire in the community and priorities for wildfire management. The online survey contains five questions and will take five to 10 minutes to complete. The survey closes on Nov. 10.
