Langford Fire Rescue hosted its annual open house on Sunday (Oct. 6) and it was a hot time for everyone.
Starting with a scrumptious pancake breakfast, visitors were treated to close-up looks at those very neat rescue and fire vehicles and had a chance for some real hands-on firefighting skills. Of course, no open house would be complete without balloon animals, mascots, face painting and a chance to spin and win prizes.
Fire Chief Chris Aubrey was on hand along with a host of his dedicated fire/rescue professionals to welcome the neighbourhood and to show off some of the very neat equipment and skills that help keep the West Shore safe.
B次元官网网址淭his is just a fantastic fun event where we invite the public to meet our firefighters and have a chance to ask questions and interact with them in a non-stressful event,B次元官网网址 said Aubrey. B次元官网网址淲e really donB次元官网网址檛 want the only time that you meet our staff to be during those stressful times during an emergency.B次元官网网址
Aubrey estimated that the event would see more than 600 community residents drop by the fire hall to check out the equipment, have something to eat, and just have fun.
Speaking of fun, the event attracted hundreds of little tykes, many who dressed as emergency workers for the occasion.
B次元官网网址淪o many potential future firefighters are here today, itB次元官网网址檚 great,B次元官网网址 observed Aubrey, looking out over the throngs of children at the open house.
B次元官网网址淲ho knows, maybe one day theyB次元官网网址檒l decide that this is what they want to do.B次元官网网址
Langford Fire Rescue currently has 36 full-time members as well as 15 (paid) on-call members. They are also currently recruiting for more on-call members and Aubrey hopes to bring on another 10 members in the near future.
A final feature of the open house was the B次元官网网址榝ill the boatB次元官网网址 campaign to collect food for the Goldstream Food Bank. Anyone who missed the open house can still donate to help out the food bank by visiting .
