Metchosin budget grows with inflation

The District of MetchosinB次元官网网址檚 operations budget is proposed to increase 2.5 per cent this year, costing an average homeowner about $20 more.

The operational budget increased 2.6 per cent in 2010 and 2.2 per cent in 2009.

This yearB次元官网网址檚 capital budget is proposed at $1.4 million. Last year council budgeted for $1.8 million and used $1.2 million.

Starting in 2012, the District will start the repaving process for Kangaroo Road.

The $2.35 million project will take three years to complete and the capital budget will increase during that time.

The District will need help with the Kangaroo Road project is applying for provincial and federal grants to help offset costs, said Coun. Jo Mitchell, chair of highways and communications committee.
