A major police incident at the courthouse in New Westminster has shut the area down, with nearby residents being asked to evacuate the area.
The incident appears to have started around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 7).
In a statement on X, New Westminster Police said surrounding roads to the courthouse on Carnarvon Street were closed, impacting Douglas College.
No further information had been released as of 1:15 p.m.
Douglas College announced at 12:45 p.m. that classes scheduled to begin before 3 p.m. at the New Westminster campus were cancelled.
