Road named after Langford soldier

The City of Langford is dedicating a new road as Myles Mansell Road on Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

Langford reservist and Belmont graduate Bombardier Myles Mansell was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in April 2006, with three other service members.

Mansell served with the 5th (B.C.) Field Artillery Regiment, which will attend the dedication ceremony on Saturday, along with friends, family and Langford officials. The public is welcome to attend.

The ceremony is on Walfred Road between Hinks Road and Normark Place. That section of Walfred will be closed from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Feb. 19. Military police will be directing traffic in the area.

Police seek owner of possible stolen boat

Police nabbed a prolific offender Wednesday night driving a van with what is suspected to be a stolen rigid hull dingy and outboard motor.

Langford Fire Rescue and Glenwood Meats are offering $1.50 samosas to benefit LangfordB次元官网网址檚 Haiti orphanage project. All sales are going toward the project.

Special needs conference

This weekend, families, educators, and health and social service providers will come together for Building Bridges, a conference to discuss caring for children with special needs.

A series of workshops and talks hosted by the University of VictoriaB次元官网网址檚 CanAssist program will run Feb. 18 and 19 at Spectrum community school.
