Time has expired on the Victoria Grizzlies 2023-24 season.
On Saturday night (April 27), the team lost 7-3 in game six of their second round BCHL season against the Surrey Eagles, losing the series 4-2.
Surrey opened the scoring just two minutes into the game, when Micah Berger scored his seventh goal of the playoffs. Zachary Wagnon and Zach Brown both added goals, putting the Eagles up 3-0 after the first period.
At the 13:36 mark of the second frame, the Grizzlies got on the board when Richard Baran scored a powerplay goal.
But the Eagles struck back quickly as Caden Cranston responded just over a minute later.
The two teams exchanged goals again later in the period as Luc Pelletier scored for Victoria but just 46 seconds later, Nathan Oickle scored for Surrey, making it 5-2.
Luc Pelletier scored his second goal of the game early in the third period but that would be the last goal of the Grizzlies season.
Massimo Fazio found the back of the net to double SurreyB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s lead while Cranston added his second of the game, an empty net goal to make it 7-3, eliminating the Grizzlies.
Oliver Auyeung-Ashton amde 33 saves in the loss.
The Grizzlies finished the regular season fourth in the Coastal Conference with a 29-22-1-2 record. They advanced to the second round after beating the Nanaimo Clippers 4-1 in the first round.
With the win, the Eagles now take on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in the Coastal Conference finals. Meanwhile, the Interior Conference finals features a match-up between the Penticton Vees and Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
