West Shore RCMP is reminding residents to take precautions as the holiday season arrives.

As the holiday season approaches, the RCMP is reminding residents to watch out for thieves and pilferers looking for a Christmas score.

Around the holidays, police say they receive more complaints regarding theft from motor vehicles. In November, West Shore RCMP received 17 reports of theft from parked vehicles, in contrast to 13 reports of the same nature in October.

"With the holiday season arriving, you have probably been busy shopping for the perfect gift in stores and online. Keep your gifts safe by securing them inside your home as soon as possible," noted an RCMP release.

They also recommend residents bring deliveries and merchandise inside as soon as they get home, and not to leave packages inside vehicles or on porches. They remind residents to schedule deliveries when someone is home to receive them when possible.
