VicPD officers made 42 arrests and recovered nearly $10,000 in stolen merchandise during the third iteration of Project Lifter, a four-day operation conducted on Dec. 6-7 and 13-14.
The operation, which targets repeat and violent retail theft offenders, marks continued efforts to address a growing issue affecting local businesses and consumers.
Launched in December 2023, the three-year pilot increases police capacity for targeted enforcement. To date, the initiative has resulted in 174 arrests over 15 operational days and the recovery of more than $50,000 in stolen goods.
Among those arrested during the latest operation were a suspect apprehended twice within an hour and another previously arrested in a prior Project Lifter operation.
