Victoria artists are being called on to help imagine a brighter future for the city while raising money to support that same dream.
The call comes from Habitat for Humanity Victoria as they announce their third annual Open a Door Online Charity Art Auction. The auction challenges artists to repurpose an item supplied by Habitat Victoria chosen from one of their ReStore locations' inventory.
The goal is to support Habitat's mission to "build strength, stability and independence for families living in need of a safe and decent place to live," Habitat said in a press release.
The items supplied will include doors, windows and other small furnishings. Artists participating in the competition will choose their canvas and medium to create the best work possible.
The unique pieces will be displayed at Mayfair Shopping Centre where patrons and art enthusiasts may place a bid on a creative creation they wish to own.
Auction proceeds will benefit Habitat Victoria's work in the local community.
This year, Habitat for Victoria has 35 spots available to local artists, creative people and DIYers.
"We are looking for a variety of dynamic and interesting creations to be auctioned off in support of our work in the community," Habitat Victoria says.
Artist applications will be open through Feb. 27, with viewings of the works displayed at Mayfair Shopping Centre from May 12 to 24. More information can be found at .
