Swifties beware: the Saanich Police Department announced on Oct. 4 that it is investigating several fraud complaints, after residents reported that they had been tricked into sending money online for Taylor Swift tickets.

The sellers, which posted tickets for sale on Facebook community groups and Facebook Marketplace, appeared legitimate and promised to send the tickets once they received payment, Saanich PD said in a news release.

"However, after the buyer e-transfers the money, the tickets are never sent," the police department said, warning the public about the risks associated with online shopping. "Buying items online carries risks, especially with re-sold tickets, as it is difficult to verify their legitimacy. Once you send an e-transfer, the money is gone."

Saanich PD also advises people to purchase concert tickets from verified organizations and to make online purchases with a credit card or PayPal for added security.
