A Sidney housing redevelopment proposal on the Cedarwood Inn and Suites site is moving closer to a seal of approval.
The 9522 Lochside Dr. oceanfront property with 97 multi-purpose housing units was given three readings by Sidney council at the March 11 meeting.
The vision for GMC ProjectsB次元官网网址 latest project is to include 49 spaces for condo units and the other for 48 townhouses. The complex plans to include dining and lounge spaces, barbecue areas and green spaces.
Within the condo building, 18 units will be one-bedrooms, 17 two-bedroom units and 14 three-bedroom units.
B次元官网网址淲e want to try and create some of the features that Sidney residents currently have in a single-family home,B次元官网网址 GMC president Jordan said, explaining the buildingB次元官网网址檚 amenities in a previous interview with Black Press Media.
The condo residents would receive 1.5 parking stalls per unit on average and two spaces per townhouse. For both the townhouse and condos there would be 10 visitor parking spaces.

Some Sidney residents have welcomed the new development, while others share concerns regarding the increased population density the proposed building could bring.
Resident Micheal Davis sent a letter to Sidney council addressing how much traffic the proposed complex could create at the Welier and Lochside intersection.
B次元官网网址淓very effort should be made to minimize those entering and leaving the new development, ideally only residents and those services required by the residents. There is no need for commercial space which would only increase the number of people coming and going. Sidney has all the services we need a short drive/walk away,B次元官网网址 noted DavisB次元官网网址 letter to council.
The proposed development will go under further review by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure due to Lochside Drive being a provincial road.
