The Societe Francophone de VictoriaB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Franco Fest is back from March 1 to 15, bringing Francophonie Month to life with a mix of music, entertainment, traditions, and family-friendly events.
The festivities kick off March 1 with a concert by New Brunswick folk-rock band La Patente at the Mint (1414 Douglas St.).
On March 7, Quebec music icon Yves Lambert and his orchestra will perform at Alix Goolden Performance Hall. A founding member of La Bottine Souriante, Lambert will mark 50 years in traditional music with a seven-piece band revisiting his greatest hits.
On March 8, EsquimaltB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Ecole Victor-Brodeur transforms into a festive village for a sugar shack day. Highlights include lumberjack competitions, a traditional Lekwungen tipi display, jig performances, live music, a classic meal, and maple taffy on snow.
The celebration shifts gears March 13 with La Vie en Rose, a francophone drag show at Friends of Dorothy, hosted by Johnny Poutina and honouring the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Comedy will take centre stage on March 14 with the Franco Comedy Night, featuring francophone comedians Evelyne Roy-Molgat, Garihanna Jean-Louis, Ryan Doucette and Jérémie Larouche.
The festival will conclude the following day with a party that blends music, dance, and sugar shack cuisine at the Esquimalt Gorge Pavilion (1070 Tillicum Rd.).
