The first 10 of 19 rows of retaining wall blocks have been installed at the Charters Road Construction Project in Sooke on Thursday, Aug. 1.
As part of the project, crews are raising the road while working on the retaining wall, according to a press release from the District of Sooke.
Crews are scheduled to relocate essential utilities in September 2024. Once water, sewer and storm mains are installed, another layer of the road will be applied before paving.
Geo-grid materials, a lattice grid fabric made of high-strength polyethylene, have been used to further strengthen the Chater Road retaining wall.
The District of Sooke has asked residents to complete the to provide feedback on traffic solutions. Residents will be able to have their say until Aug. 25, 2024, when it closes.
