The polls have closed in Saanich North and the Islands as residents across B.C. have cast their ballots to elect the provincial government. The first results are expected to start coming in by about 8:15 p.m.
The candidates seeking election are Rob Botterell of the B.C. Green Party, Sarah Riddell of the B.C. NDP, B.C. Conservative David Busch and independent candidate Amy Haysom.
The Green Party's Adam Olsen announced in June he would not be seeking re-election in Saanich North and the Islands. Olsen captured the riding in the 2020 provincial election with 52 per cent of the vote. Seb King of the B.C. NDP finished second with 29 per cent, followed by Stephen P. Roberts of the B.C. Liberals with 19 per cent.
