Osborne Bay PubB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Sunday Jazz series returns in 2025

Another season of world-class music on Vancouver Island

Osborne Bay Pub is set to welcome jazz fans to another season of world-class music on Vancouver Island through its 2025 Sunday Jazz program.

The season will feature a mix of past favourites along with new acts, all taking the stage for intimate performances that run Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission is by cash at the door and all tickets are $20 unless noted. To avoid disappointment, reserve a table by calling 250-324-2245.

HereB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s a look at the season's lineup.

With her powerful voice and captivating stage presence, is the perfect act to kick off a new season. Appearing previously as a member of the Ladies of Jazz, Washington returns to the Osborne Bay Pub on Jan. 12, this time fronting her own trio. With nine albums to her credit, WashingtonB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s repertoire ranges from tender ballads to down-home blues and from classic jazz to pop tunes. 

Spice up your Sunday on Jan. 26 with Jazz Caliente, led by Saltspring Island saxophonist Iain Duncan. This hot quintet of musicians features Cuban percussionist and trumpet player Miguelito Valdez, drummer Hans Verhoeven, bass player Ryan Tandy and Nick Peck on keys. 

 multilingual performances will transport audiences around the globe with songs in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish. A beloved regular at Sunday Jazz, Edie is sure to pack the house on Feb. 9 with this pre-ValentineB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Day treat. Tickets to this show are $25 at the door.

Making his Sunday Jazz debut on Feb. 23, guitarist  will deliver an electrifying performance with influences spanning jazz, blues and world music. DonB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t miss this chance to hear selections from his debut album Resonance

Hans Verhoeven has appeared as drummer for many bands at Sunday Jazz, most recently with the NMA Big Band. HeB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ll step into the spotlight on March 9 and front his own combo featuring top B.C. musicians Andrew Janusson on guitar, Nick Peck on piano/organ and Mike Allen on sax. 

The little big band returns on March 23. brings the swinging sounds of the '40s, '50s and '60s to life with an eight-member ensemble, including four vocalists. This is quintessential head bopping, toe tapping, get-on-the-dance-floor music. Tickets to this show are $25 at the door.    
 
Award-winning international entertainer will make her Sunday Jazz debut on April 13. Whether fronting her own combos, singing with the Victoria Symphony, belting out national anthems for the likes of the Chicago Bulls, or touring internationally, PancelB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s versatility shines. 

The crowd was blown away by Decadence when they played Osborne Bay Pub in April, 2024. Break out your dance shoes as theyB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ll be back April 27. Led by long-time Nanaimo musician, Steve Jones, this 11-piece orchestra features the jazz-influenced rock music of bands such as Average White Band along with funky NB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™Orleans style dance music and swinging big band jazz. Tickets for this show are $25 at the door.

A staple of Vancouver IslandB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s music scene, the 18-member Arrowsmith Big Band will deliver lush arrangements and top-tier musicianship on May 11. Tickets are $25 at the door.

End the 2025 Sunday Jazz season on June 8 with a journey to New Orleans, courtesy of The NOLA Nighthawks. Led by Andrew Homczy, this ensemble captures the vibrant spirit of the South. Break out those Mardi Gras beads and "Laissez les bons temps rouler!" Tickets are $25 at the door.
