In reference to the article BC Transit to install barriers to protect drivers, I am enraged that such installations are necessary.

IB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™m not questioning the present need for BC Transit to install these barriers. Rather, IB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™m enraged at the necessity to do so.

As a frequent transit user between Sidney and Victoria, I am impressed by the friendliness and courtesy of the bus drivers. They certainly never deserve the verbal and/or physical abuse from their passengers, alluded to in your article.

Although my following suggestion will undoubtedly be unpopular with some, including the present B.C. politicians who play at governing our province, I would recommend appropriate minimal jail sentences be imposed to those abusing transit drivers B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ with a first offence bringing 30 days in jail, and appropriate increasingly longer increments of jail time for further offences.
