A power outage in downtown Victoria on Nov. 13 that started the afternoon of Nov. 12 remains 'under investigation' according to BC Hydro.

Only a handful of hydro customers are without power the morning after a windy night across the south coast of B.C.

The only outage reported by BC Hydro Wednesday morning (Nov. 13) covers fewer than 100 customers in one block of downtown Victoria. The power is out east of Quadra Street, north of Yates Street, south of Pandora Avenue and west of Johnson Street.

The cause of the outage remains under investigation. BC Hydro shows crews assigned to the outage, expected to arrive at 9 a.m. The utilities map online also shows the power down since 2:23 p.m. on Nov. 13.

There are also small pockets of fewer than seven customers each in Central Saanich, North Saanich, Saanich and Oak Bay without power.

Environment and Climate Change Canada warned of the high winds overnight, prompting BC Ferries to cancel several sailings Tuesday evening. Environment Canada rescinded the warning just after 4 a.m. Wednesday as winds abated.

Greater Victoria can expect breezy conditions through the week, with southeast winds of 20 km/h gusting to 40, with 60 km/h gusts near Haro Strait. Light winds will continue through the afternoon into the rest of the week.
