This year marks the 37th edition of the the SFAS, which runs from July 29 to Aug. 7. It features the exceptional work of artists from Vancouver Island and B.C.B次元官网网址檚 Coastal Islands.

The 10-day community art experience is the largest juried art show on Vancouver Island and drew more than 7,500 people from across the region and beyond to last yearB次元官网网址檚 show.

Established artists from as far away as Haida Gwaii will exhibit their works in various categories, including painting, sculpture, photography, fibre, ceramics, and hand-formed jewelry, with several winners sharing in $12,000 worth of awards for outstanding creativity and skill.

The event incorporates live music, artist demonstrations, lectures, and activities for all ages, including a tea and scone afternoon for seniors and a day of art experience for families, children, and youth. A gallery gift shop offers smaller works for sale, while the youth art gallery features the work of talented students from regional high schools.

More than 300 volunteers have been working behind the scenes since the beginning of the month to convert the arena at SEAPARC Leisure Complex at 2168 Phillips Rd. into an art gallery for the show.

B次元官网网址淓verything the volunteers do, from helping construct and light the gallery, hanging and placing the artworks, greeting guests, and running the activities reflects the character of the community that inspired the first Sooke Fine Arts Show in 1986,B次元官网网址 Moore said.

A special PurchasersB次元官网网址 Preview Night on July 28 from 7 to 10 p.m. provides an opportunity to get a head start viewing whatB次元官网网址檚 available for sale at this yearB次元官网网址檚 show.

The exclusive, ticketed event allows seasoned and new art collectors first access to view and purchase their favourite works. Tickets cost $45 and include assorted canapes and beverages.

They can be purchased at , or by calling 250-642-7256 but will not be available at the door.
