The Highlands Music Coffee House is returning Aug. 12 with headlining performers Mufaro Marimba.
Mufaro Marimba plays music primarily from Zimbabwe and southern Africa. The music they play is described as joyous, infectious, fun to dance to. The musical parts fit together like a puzzle into one wonderful incredible sound.
The instruments the musicians play are handmade wooden marimbas fashioned after those first made and refined in Zimbabwe around 1960. The maranka gourd shakers they use are called BԪַhoshoBԪַ and are an essential part of this music from Zimbabwe.
The evening has no set opening act, and instead will feature an open stage.
Admission is by donation, with $10 or more suggested for those over 15 years old, and doors open at the Caleb Pike House at 6:30 p.m., with music starting at 7.
