A handful of the more than 1,400 Metis Nation of Greater Victoria (MNGV) artists members showcase their work in Saanich to wrap 2024.
The fine art and historical display fills the main gallery, cube gallery, hallway cases and rear window gallery at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre now through Jan. 2.
Artists showing include Virginia Lee, Patricia Williams, Sheena Gering, Erin Macklem, Attlee Macklem, Sandy Slobodian, Molly Long, Kayanne Bradford, Brenda Wright, Meg Froehler, Samantha Anderson, Pat Ekland, Lynette La Fontaine, Christine Breland Henry, Kristi Bridgeman, Corinne Donnelly and Kristy McLeod.
The works include traditional and contemporary, from fine art to everyday functional items. Historical art forms include vintage Metis items such as beadwork, embroidery, quill work, carving and weaving.
Established in 1990, MNGV is the local organization representing Metis People in the Capital Regional District, where about 6,500 Metis were identified through the 2021 census.

The show opens Saturday (Dec. 7) with a fashion show, traditional jigging performances and music by Calvin Cairns in the main gym at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre, 3220 Cedar Hill Rd.
